If you were detained by state or county police in Arizona and any of the following situations apply to you, you may qualify for fee-free bail relief:
-You are a low-income Arizonan who simply cannot afford bail. If this is your only qualified reason for applying, your application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The Foundation may offer bail relief, depending on the nature of your accused crime, and amount your bail is set at.
-Officers used what any rational, neutral observer would describe as excessive force, such as unnecessarily beating, kicking, or using chemical weapons while detaining you. The severity of the alleged crime as well as the applicant's cooperation with law enforcement will be taken heavily into account when we determine an applicant's eligibility.
-Officers who arrested you did so after searching your vehicle or home without a warrant or probable cause.
-You feel that you have been the victim of racial profiling, entrapment, or other similar illegal police behavior.
-You are being held and the ONLY charges against you are resisting arrest and/or disorderly conduct, especially if you feel that you were wrongfully detained. Again, the severity of the alleged crime as well as the applicant's cooperation with law enforcement will be taken heavily into account when we determine an applicant's eligibility.
If any of these situations apply to a friend or loved one, please fill out the form below immediately to apply for bail relief.
*None of the above should be taken to construe a guarantee that the Arizona Foundation for Victims of Police Abuse will provide bail relief even if your situation is one listed. We reserve the right to review each application on a case-by-case basis and all decisions are final. All applicants must sign an agreement to honor all court dates and comply with the terms of their bail release order.
